Have you ever wondered how to get those coveted “As Seen On” logos for major publications and shows? Well, I’m going to tell you to get that kind of publicity without having to hire a PR consultant or marketing agency.

If you and your team are willing to do the work, you’ll soon find your association getting featured and quoted in major publications.

Network with reporters

The easiest way to get featured is to build relationships with journalists and writers for major publications.

The better you get at networking with these content creators, the better chance you’ll have of them coming to you for quotes, guest posts or podcast interviews.

Twitter is usually the best platform to find journalists. Still, you should also try LinkedIn and Medium, and start engaging in conversations (and commenting on their work) with the content creators who have access to the publications that make the most sense for your association.

All you have to do is reach out to writers who specialize in your niche and offer to help them with future articles and stories with your expertise or that of your subject matter experts. When something big happens in your industry, see who’s writing about it and reach out with potential experts they could interview.

Guest posting for niche websites and publications

Smaller niche publications can be a great way to build authority and generate attention with a super enthusiastic audience.

For example, if your association is related to dental health, you could write a quick guest post for a site like Dental Implant Cost Guide.

The best part about guest posting is that it’s pretty easy. You usually don’t need to learn SEO or any crazy marketing. All you need is an idea to write about and a passion for serving your audience through education.

Get on podcasts

If you’ve never considered having key members or leaders of your association get interviewed for a podcast, you may want to reconsider.

Did you know that podcast listeners are 45% more likely to have a household income of $250,000 or more?  And that’s not to mention that most podcast interviews double as blog posts because quite a few podcasts love to transcribe interviews.

Identify podcasts in your industry or niche, and reach out to hosts about the great stories within your association.

How to get started

The most important thing is to take action and start a conversation with those who can get your association more publicity. Go on social media and Google and find those who have the ability to get your association more attention and maybe even more members.
